I recently began a project of taking photographs of New York storefronts at night.  I am fascinated by the windows that we walk by all the time, and what we see in them, both the people and the incredible diversity of objects that are placed in the windows.  But we never stop to really look at them because they are just part of the visual overload of a city.   If you have a commercial enterprise on a street in New York and wish to entice passing pedestrians, you need to have a window that draws people in, and shows them what you have inside, whether it's a bodega, pizza joint, laundromat, smoke shop, tattoo parlor, or whatever.   And with all of these windows, you can also see the people inside, both those who patronize the businesses, as well as those who work there.    There is also, for me, a visual appeal in the way in which the frames of the windows and doorways create an abstract, formally composed structure, revealing and hiding different parts of the interior and the people within.
